Just A Thought I Had If we are saved by a few words in the bible, why aren’t we transformed by them? John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him should not parish but have everlasting life. Why does this verse carry so much weight ? But then these verses have little or no weight at all? 1Thessalonians 4:3-8(New King James Version) For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; 4 that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, 5 not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; 6 that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. 7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. 8 Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit. 2 Timothy 2:22-26 (New King James Version) 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. 23 But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.
Some Christians in my life look down on believers who love the word of God and believe that the God of the universe made a way for us to be saved and changed by His power. He loved us unto His own death that we may have life. When I think of Christ on the cross, blood and water flowing from the wounds of His broken body lifted up in payment for me, I can’t imagine nor do I fully understand the gravity of the sacrifice, But I am speechless of the thought and my heart leaps with great gratitude. Would I continue to sin and live the way I choose, can I really? Is grace that valuable?
Thank you for my life in you Jesus, My God and My King. Just a thought I had, Anne Alexander |
